  • Camp, Lee, Jan 12th, 1862 Beaufort, Dist, SC Brother, Charles, Buchanan I received your letter it always revies my spirit to hear from any of the friend at home I was glad to hear you and family wer well. This leaves me and all the friends well I have nothing of interest to write. We have not had any fight yet nor I don’t know whether we will or not, for I think they just want to stell cotton and other articles along on the coast or at least that is the game they have been playing this winter give my respects to all the friends and tell them howdy for me. I will answer any letters from any of the friends who will write to me no more at present write soon and give me all the news. Remains your brother till death Wm Green _______________ John J. Buchanan says he received a letter from you yesterday he says he will answer it in a short time
