Bill Baldwin's second place individual finish, along with three other Catamount runners being named to the All-Southern Conference team, highlighted the blustery Saturday morning in Cullowhee. In the men's race, Baldwin took the lead about halfway through the 8000 meter (5 mile) race. With a course lined with cheering Catamount fans, Baldwin broke away from the pack and formed a 20-yard lead. Baldwin stayed in this position until the very end, when UT- Chattanooga's Nic Crider passed Baldwin, who was only two seconds off the winning pace with 25:50. Following the race, Baldwin commented, "I knew that to win the meet I would have to be far enough ahead at the four-mile mark. However, I knew that if Crider was beside me at four and a half miles, he'd beat me because of his speed." WCU teammates Turner Norris (2619) and Brian Clark (26:20) also earned all- conference status as they finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Freshman Andy Ramos (26:53,22nd place), and sophomore Jeremiah Buechner lady Cats Continue to Improve Volleyball Season And they're off! UTC finished fourth, followed by Marshall, VMI, Furman, Citadel, Georgia Southern, and Davidson. On the women's side, senior Kristen Savery earned All-Conference honors for the second year in a row.
