  • Page 2 News December 2,1993 Western Carolinian Expect yuletide surprise at prism concert The Western Carolina University department of music will hold its third annual Holiday "Prism" Concert at 4 pm Sunday, December 5, in Hoey Auditorium. The concert, which has become a Yule- tide tradition at WCU, takes its name from the waya prismsplits lightintomanydiffer- entcolors. Intheconcert,differentperform- 05 ends season On November 18, the brothers at the Theta Xi . house held a banquet for f the "Power" soccer team members and their parents. Theta Xi sponsored the team and brothers David Webb and Bryan Sharpe coached. The team finished in second placewitha Jackson County. Theta Xi will also be coachi ing groups will be located at various points all around the interior of the auditorium, with the focus of the concert moving from one group to the next without pause. Concert-goers should not be too surprised i f the person sitting next to them suddenly stands up and begins singing. "Special lighting will be utilized to maximize the dramatic effect of sound coming from many different locations," said Robert Kehrberg head of WCU's music department. The music performed at the concert will consist of sacred and secular favorite of the holiday season. More than 150musi cians, including faculty and students, will participate with several soloists and ten different ensembles scheduled to perform. Admission will cost $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens, with all proceeds going toward an endowed music-student scholarship fund.
