If you choose the Pill or the IUD, your body will have special food needs. Supplements are not usually necessary, but you will want to give closer attention to the foods you eat. If you choose the Pill your body will have an increased need for Vitamin C, Folacin, and Vitamin B6. Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is needed for strong teeth, gums, and bones, and helps prevent bruising and helps healing of wounds. To increase your intake of Vitamin C, you might eat more citrus fruits and their juices, juices fortified with vitamin C, and fruits and vegetables such as broccoli, tomatoes, melons, strawberries, green pepper, and cabbage. Folacin helps to build red blood cells and prevent certain anemias. Folic acid is found in liver and other meats, eggs, nuts, leafy green vegetables, lima beans, and cauliflower. This vitamin is found in meat, poultry, fish, eggs, oatmeal, cabbage, corn, and bananas. The IUD has little effect on nutritional status, however a heavier menstrual flow sometimes occurs. This results in increased iron loss and an increased need for dietary iron. Iron is a mineral which combines with protein in the blood to make hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the red substance in the blood that carries oxygen to all body cells for energy. A low level of iron is called Iron Deficiency Anemia. Iron supplements should not be routinely taken, but the daily diet should include organ meats such as liver, red meats such as beef, pork, lamb; dried fruits, dried beans and peas, dark green leafy vegetables, and iron-fortified or enriched breads and cereals. Since Vitamin C aids in absorption of iron in the intestinal tract, foods high in this vitamin should be eaten at the same time as foods high in iron. In the cassettes are both live pictures as received at NASA, as well as expert interpretation of the information. Language is clear, with helpful simulations to aid understanding, so that the general public should enjoy them as much as astronomy students. Interested persons may see any or all the tapes at the Media Center (ground floor Stillwell) during regular hours. 9-9 pm, subject only to prior commitment of facilities. •I LISTEN WHEN YOU CALL PLANNED PARENTHOOD" "Everyone's concerned about confidentiality when they get birth control.
