The club meets informally each Tuesday and Thursday night at 7 o'clock in the second floor lobby of the University Center. Scotland Scholarship The Grandfather Mountain Highland (James has announced a scholarship for one year of graduate study, resulting in a master's degree, in the universities of Scotland. This scholarship willbeawardedtoa senior student of Scotch descent with limited means so that the student may have an opportunity for graduate study in the homeland of his ancestors. The scholarship covers the cost of transportation, tuition and living expenses ofthe scholar for one academj; year, beginning in the fall months and ending in June in the following year. Due to the significant increase in the number of students seeking admission to the graduate departments of universities in Scotland, it is necessary that an applicant promptly apply to the graduate department of the university of the applicant's choice and secure proof of admission. Application forms may be obtained in the Student Financial Aid office, 116 Scott Hall. They mast be submitted to the scholarship committee before April 11, 1975. All applicants will be notified of the Com.-iit- tee's decision on or before June 15, 1975. Taco Dinner Sigma Kappa Sorority is sponsoring a Taco Dinner on January 27 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall ofthe Cullowhee Methodist Church. The dinner will sell for $1.50 per person and will consist of three tacos plus coffee or tea. The proceeds from this dinner will go to Sigma Kappa Philanthropies. Recreation There will be a meeting of the Recreation Leadership Club at 7 p.m. in Reid Gym on the evening of Tuesday January 21, 1975. Eckankar The Eckankar International Student Society will hold its first meeting tonight at 8 p0m. in the Catamount Room of the U.C. The public is invited. Jethro Tull Tickets are still available for Friday night's Jethro Tull concert at Asheville's Civic Center at 8 p.m. Joe Hall, local promoter and station manager of WISE, said last night that a large number of last minute sales were expected, and he urged students here to go early Friday if they didn't have tickets already. Jethro Tull is starting a national tour from Asheville that has already been sold out for coming dates in Lis Angeles. Tickets are $5.50, -S6 and $7. Appearing with Tull will be "Carmen," a flamenco rock-and-roll group. According to Hall, Tull will be playing all his hits from the past and promises a great performance. Area supporters say it is the largest theatrical production ever to come to North Carolina. Soprano Jeanette Pedorello ,and tenor Eugene Talley- Schmidt will present a joint recital Thursday at 8:15 p.m. in Hoey Auditorium at Western Carolina University. The program will be accompanied by Herman Allison, and will include works bySchu- bert, Brahms,Strauss, Puccini, Verdi, and others. Talley-Schmidt is professor of voice at Florid* State University, a position he accepted after a career as leading tenor in some of Germany's major opera houses. A native of Rome, Ga., Talley-Schmidt studied at San Diego College and Indiana University before receiving a Fulbright scholarship to Rome, Italy., Miss Pecorello, who is married to Talley-Schmidt, made her opera debut in Philadelphia as Carmen. She was a finalist in the Philadelphia Or- chestra competition, and the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship for opera study in Rome. The performance is sponsored by the WCU Lectures, Concerts and Exhibitions Committee. Admission is free to WCU students and subscription series members of the LCE, $1 for other adults, and 50 cents for children.
