May Queen Crowned (Continued from page 1) The junior class attendants and their escorts were Winona Cotter, Cullowhee, escorted by Ralph Clark; Morganton; Juanita Lowe, Clyde, escorted by her husband, Ray Lowe, Clyde; and Freda Arnold, Franklin, escorted by Herbert Foster, Lexington. The sophomore representatives and their escorts were Helen Bushong, Ellenboro, escorted by Douglas Nims, Fort Mill, S: C; Ruth Mincey, Dillsboro, escorted by Carl Painter, Canton; and Mary Ann Padgett, Worthville, escorted by Ted Gayle, Badin. The freshmen were Betty Deav- er, Anderson, Calif., escorted by George Nims, Fort Mill, S. C, and Sue Cook, Canton, escorted by Benny Pryor, Bear Wallow. The crown bearer was Ronny Harris. The train bearers were Judy Byrd and Mary Anne Brown. The Queen wore a white organdy dress and her Maid of Honor wore a deep lavender net. The attendants wore lighter lavender net and the escorts were in gray. After the processional, Mrs. Winter was crowned by President Bird and courtesies of the court were paid to the Queen. The program was written and directed by Ann Davidson, Boiling Springs. It was based around two main characters, Grandpa, which was played by Jim Wood, and Susie, which was played by little Alison McConnell. Miss Helen Hartshorn directed the dances and Miss Anne Albright assisted as faculty adviser.
