To Make Trip To Salisbury Seven of the best boys will be selected to paiticipate in a tennis tournament held in Salisbury. May 5th and 6th. C. has an opportunity to make a grand slam among the minor sports in her debut in the Noith State Tennis Conference to be held at Catawba College at Salisbury. May 5th and 6th. The Catamounts have gained quite a renown among the "Little Light" colleges of the state since her admission last year as to main spoits, and now for the first time she is to participate in a minor sport—tennis. The colleges making up the "Little Eight" are W. C. T. C. at Cullowhee; Appalachian State Teachers College at Boone; Lenoir-Rhyne at Hickory; Elon College at Elon; High Point College at High Point; Guilford College at Guilford, and Catawba at Salisbuiy. Although some changes may be made, this is the probably line-up for the w. C, T. The tennis tournament sponsored by the recently formed. Tennis Club is now being played off by the various classes. The good condition xif the courts and the alluring enticements offered by the weather man have proved attractive features to all lovers of the sport. The tournament is being played according to classes, the class champions to play to determine the campus champion. None of the classes have decided the champions among the boys. The senior championship is to be played by Paul Buchanan and Guy Sutton, renowned rivals for the college title for two years. "Buck" has thrice been awaided the medal proclaiming him the champion, having twice defeated Sutton and once Thomas. The match should prove to be an interesting one. the othei classes have not yet leacned the semi-finals but expect to do so within a few days and the mat- u.es will no doubt be quite interesting to tans. unly one championship among the gills has been determined—the sopho- ulting in Lola Bell Matthews being claimant for the title and hav.ng an oppoitunity to play for the college championship. Catamount Star To Graduate This Spring Mark Watson, has pioved to be a real athlete for Western Catolin.i. Mark has been a three letterman for three years. He probably would have b>en foi four years had they had foot- bill the liist year he was heie. Maik says that basketball is his favo: te sport. He played forward po-it on for thiee yeais and centet position this year. Mark has always been a man whom the team and spectators could rely on. He seems to always be at the right nlace at the right time. Mark may not be the high scor- Si of the game but he make- un tor this in his ability to keep the team together and his fine work of cooperation. We would like to see a basketball team here that Mark could not make. Maik played at end position on the football anil moundsman in baseball. Mark is sometimes called "CHIN" by his closer friends. He doesn't believe in love. He is a happy-go-lucky fellow. He takes all his troubles, if he ever has any, with a smile. The students will hate to see "CHIN" leave. It will be hard to find another man to fill his shoes. Mark we wish you luck in the futuie for we know you have it in you. Welcome Cullowhee Faculty and Students All Meals 15.
