  • and those of you who can help improve industry and better the world will be most welcome. But this future progress is going to require people who are not willing to stand on the sidelines and just complain. It is going to require enthusiastic and determined people who will get out on the field of competition and devote the time and energy that real progress always requires. Todays world is a most compli- cated place and it will not be easy to develop alternatives that are viable. To summarize my thoughts, | would suggest that each of you select your goals carefully, that each of you make education a continuing process and that each of you go all out to achieve your goals to bring about your own personal happiness and thus the better world we all want. | have always been fascinated by the battle cry of No Quarter. You will recall that armies in history, when fighting for causes they were morally committed to, would enter the fight with shouts of No Quarter to indicate no surrender on their part and no prisoners to be taken by them. In the pursuit of your lifes goals, | do not suggest you ignore the basic rules of humanity and fair play but once your goals are set, whether they are physical or mental, material or moral, pursue them. Give no quarter and seek none. Accept my heartiest congratulations and best wishes for an exciting future.
