I have gathered the impression, either from your articles that ran in Outing, or from some other old time rifle stories in other magazines, lately, that all of Boone's rifles had heen loeated and identified, This Wisconsin story, however, bears all the ear marks of authenticity. In a letter to Horace Kephart on February 19, 1919, W. B. Knoble sends Kephart a “Seattle Times” newspaper clipping that he thinks disproves that Daniel Boone’s rifles have been located and accounted for. The article explains that Mr. Rafter of Wisconsin owns Boone’s flintlock rifle and brought the gun to a hardware store for repairs.
