Trip Report

This Carolina Mountain Club 'Trip Report' of an excursion to Roan Mountain notes that the roundtrip by automobile from Asheville, North Carolina, was 123.8 miles, with an additional 18 miles covered by foot. The total time for the trip was two hours and fifteen minutes by automobile and eight hours afoot. The party, led by Roger Morrow, consisted of ten club members and six visitors. A more detailed itinerary is handwritten at the bottom of the printed form. Roan Mountain, located in both Mitchell County, N.C., and in Tennessee, is noted for its rhododendrons.
