THE CANTON PAGE FIVE Miss Brown And Edgar Pressley Wed In Church Ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brown of Waynesville route 2, announce the marriage of then dauj Miss Naomi Mae Brown, to : V. Pressley, son of Mr. and Mrs R. N. Pressley oi Canton. The wedding took place at the Calvary Baptist church on Satur day, August 11, with the p the Rev. J. Doyle Miller, performing the double ring ceremony. - The vow- were spoken bi 'an altar decorated with white gladioli and greenery. Only relatives and close friends attended. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. Bill Wilson, preceding the entrance ot the bride and groom who were unattended. The bride wore a blue Irish eyelet dress with while accessories and a corsage of white roses. Immediately following the ceremony the couple left for a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn. On their return they will reside at 34 Pearl street. For traveling the bride wore a black dress with white accessories. Mrs. Pressley for .some time has been employed in the chemical laboratory of the Champion Paper and Fibre company. Mr. Pressley ig manager of the City Shoe shop. A. Girls Leave For Mars Hill M. H. Clark of Leicester, has announced the marriage of his daughter, Martha L. Clark, to Harvey Ulan Hurt of Georgetown, Ohio. The couple were united in wedlock in Trenton, Mich., on June 23, with only a few close friends attending. The bride wore a navy blue dress with white accessories and a corsage of sweetheart roses. The couple will make their home in Detroit, Mich., where Mr. Hurt is employed. Miss Rachel Pressley is visiting relatives in Lincolnton this week. Business Women Will Meet Monday The Canton Business and Professional Women's club will hold its regular, monthly meeting Monday evening, August 20, at the Champion "Y" at 6:30. This will be a dinner meeting with Mrs. Marie Bell as hostess. All members are urged to be present. Mrs. Price Evans and children have returned home after spending several weeks with relatives in Houston, Texas. Mr. Evans went down to accompany them home. Daughter Born To Former Canton Couple Mr. and Mrs. George Timmons of Canton became grandparents July 28 when a baby daughter was born to Mrs. Walter Trawick of Martinez, Calif. Mrs. Trawick is the former Miss Ruth Thomas- ine Timmons and was married two and a half years ago. The baby, who- weighed seven pounds, four ounces, was born at the Martinez community hospital. She has been named Carol Mae Trawick. Trawick, recently discharged from the navy after three years of service, mostly in the Southwest Pacific, is a radio dispatcher for the sheriff's office in Martinez. He is junior vice commander of Sidney Severns post, veterans of foreign wars - and was recently chairman of the post's annual buddy poppy drive. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Cave of Martinez. Mrs. Billy, Haney and daughters, Genevieve and Martha Kay. have returned from a visit with relatives in Baltimore, Md. They were accompanied home by Miss Betty Ledley who is spending some/time here. Mrs. O. H. Roberson underwent a major operation at the Biltmore hospital Monday. Her condition is reported fair. Mrs. Sam W. Jimison is quite ill at her home, following a stroke Tuesday at noon. Her husband who suffered a light stroke a week previous is gradually improving, although still confined to his bed. Mrs. Clyde Christopher who underwent an operation at St. Josephs hospital, is improving. Mrs. Charles Mathis is recovering from an operation at the Haywood County hospital. Wayne Parker underwent an appendicitis operation at the Haywood County hospital. Master Bryant Holtzclaw is recuperating at his home here from a minor operation performed at the Norburn hospital last week. His condition is reported to be very good. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Parker of Media, Pa., spent Wednesday here, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Tate. Adrene Smathers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fleetwood Smathers, who underwent an appendicitis operation at the Medical building, is improving. Mr. and Mrs. Sam W. Jimision who are confined to their home by illness are slightly improved. Miss Wylma Rice underwent an operation at the Haywood County hospital the first of the week, S/Sgt. Troy Willis who recently returned from the European area, is spending a furlough here with his wife, and his mother, Mrs. Claude Willis and family. BIRTHS . Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stacey announce the birth of a daughter on August 5, at the Haywood County hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Boone announce the birth of a son at St. Joseph hospital, July 15. Mr. and Mrs. Clavton Trull announce the birth of a son at the Medical building on August 3. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Boyd announce the birth of a daughter at the Medical building, August 5. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mease at the Medical building on August 7. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Smith announce the birth of a son at the Medical building August 8. Herman Wooten arrived home Wednesday after spending 28 months in the European theatre of war. He has been in service 35 months, and this is his first furlough home. Mrs. Zachary ex- .pects to visit her husband, Private Walter Zachary who is stationed at Fort Knox, Ky. * * * Robert Hipps, T/5, who has been with the paratroopers in the European section, arrived in New York the first of the week, according to news received here.
