Portrait of Deal with a butterfly. As an educator she believes “butterflies can teach you about anything there is to know in life,” including science, literature, geography, math, history, political science, music and art, social sciences and religion. “You will learn humility and reverence,” she says, and “you can’t help but believe in magic; in the real magic and wonder that accompanies us through this life.” She came to Asheville in 1984.
