  • The show begins with Amy recounting the story of how the play "Samantha Bumgarner and the History of Mountain String Music" was produced in 2001 by Catch the Spirit of Appalachia with the 4th graders of Jackson County. The story is accompanied by “The Old Guitar.” On Creative Corner, Doreyl continues her conversation with book artist Frank Brannon of Dillsboro, who talks this week about how he came to be involved with efforts to revitalize the Cherokee language through his printing work. The interview is followed by “Cherokee,” which features the Native American flute. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Jim Gray, the retired owner of the Sylva Herald. He shares the history of the newspaper and his family’s involvement with publishing the paper. “You’ll Grow Into It” by Terry Edwards follows the interview.
