Amy describes the upcoming Catch the Spirit of Appalachia Writer’s Celebration to be held at the Jarrett House in Dillsboro on November 9th. The event highlights regional writers. “Oh Perfect Love” by Jo Northup and Richard Birt plays in the background. “Abiding in the Vine” an original song by Betty Brown concludes the segment. On Creative Corner, Doreyl’s guest is Karla Forbes from Balsam Mountain who has a shop in Dillsboro. They talk about her business, classes held there and her passion for needle crafts. Clover’s rendition of “Hanging by a Thread” follows the interview. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Charlie Brown, a demonstrator at the 2012 Mountain Heritage Day at Western Carolina University. He talks about being a “frontier long hunter.” “Soldier’s Joy” by the Ross Brothers follows the segment. On Black Roots of Appalachia, Victoria’s guest is Ida Jean Allen Bryson, who grew up in Little Savannah in Webster. She talks about growing up on a farm and becoming a WAC in the US Army. The interview is followed by “Blind Now & Led by a Child” by the Cockman Family. Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is Jared Gallamore from West Asheville. They talk about his interest in Native American heritage. “South Wind” by Pic n’ Play Dulcimer Group follows the segment. The closing song is “Asheville, Paris of the South” by the Muses from Asheville.
