  • The Southern Highland Handicraft Guild met for its annual membership meeting in Knoxville, Tennessee on April 5, 1935. Meeting minutes generally contain committee reports, financial statement, new member list, announcements of regional events, and discussion about special issues facing the organization. At this particular meeting Agnes Loeffler gave a six-month report on Allanstand Cottage Industries and Allen Eaton spoke about the traveling exhibition of Guild works. Several members spoke of the continued work with the Woman's Bureau and the Tennessee Valley Authority. The Guild's charter was discussed. Clementine Douglas spoke about "developing a program for the advancement of the handicrafts of the area." Douglas was manager of the newly formed Southern Highlanders, Inc. Also included is a list of people attending the meeting.
