Ang Maynila ang hantu- ngan ng pagsasalikop. JAPANESE TROOPS ENTER THE PHILIPPINE^ 7 APAN gallantly rose up in arms to stamp out the sphere of Anglo-American ififlue from the Far East. In the Philippines starting with the landing of her troops in Aparri on December 10, 1941, followed by the landings on Vigan, Legaspi, Davao and Lamon Bay, the main force landed at Lingayen on December 22 and by coordinated action from North and South, the then USAFFE was thrown in utter confusion. The goal was Manila. The first line soldiers who have just been loaded on the landing barges from the transport study the point to break In. This edition of Japanese propaganda magazine, “Shin Seiki” (text in Tagalog and English), published by the Department of Information, was brought back to America by Carr and Ruth Hooper who were interned at Santo Tomas Internment Camp in Manila, Philippines from January 1942 to February 1945. Hand-written notes made by Carr refer to several photos and captions. The camp, also known as the Manila Internment Camp, was run by the Japanese military during World War II and housed over 3,000 internees from January 1942 until February 1945.
