Robertsons donate land for church

This short notice announces that the Robertson family has donated land in Asheville on the corner of Charlotte Street and Edwin Place to the Unitarian-Universalist Church. Dr. Logan Robertson, son of Reuben Robertson, Sr., chief executive officer of the Champion Fiber Company, and his wife offered the congregation the property and it was accepted in August, 1969. Architect and church member William O. Moore designed a sanctuary, activities building and religious education building. The first service in the new sanctuary was held on May 7, 1972.

Robertsons I Donate Land For Church The Reuben B. Robertson family has donated a piece of property to the Unitarian-Universal- ist Church. The gift was made at a meeting yesterday in the office of Reuben B. Robertson in the Parkway Office Building. The property is the north corner of Charlotte Street and Edwin Place and includes a vacant lot and two houses. Services at the church will continue to be held at 120 Vermont Ave. in West Asheville for ■the next few months. A fund raising campaign will begin Oct. 10, and plans are 'being made for the construction of a new church building, and the conversion of one of the houses as a Sunday School and social hall The Rev. Dr. Tracy M. Pullman is minister of the church amd Don Driscoll of the U. S. Forestry Service is president of the board of trustees of the church. The church was organized here in 1950 and the first services were 'held in the YMCA. Services and Sunday School are held at 11 a. m. each Sunday.
