  • COPY. Charlotte, N, C, February 8th, 1901. Senator J. B. Fo raker, Washington, PL C, Dear Senator: - T enclose you a petition signed by a nomber of your ficiends in Cincinnati, who have been making an excursion of some days in the Mountainous region about Asheviiie and who are thoroughly impressed with the necessity for some action on the part of the United States towards preserving the forests in this section, for the good of all the people in the eastern section of the United States. We in Ohio are directly interested, not only for the oppcr- i tunity which it would give our people to easily r4ach such a Forest Park, but by reason of the value to us in one of the main water supplies of the Ohio Fiver through the New River, which rises in this region, T have been requested to iend this petition to you and to ask that you will have it reach the Senate in the proper way. Yours very truly, (Signed) Lucien Wulsin. F.N.H.
