  • DR. CHASE P. AMBLER, ASHEVILLE, n. c. Mar. 7th, 1900. Messrs. Taylor ft Crate, 269 Elk St., Buffalo, N. Y. My dear Sirs*- Your favor of the 3rd inst, received. Under separate coaver we are mailing you printed matter in reference to the movement toward the establishment of the Appalachian National Park, The map upon which you find the diagram simply shows one of the points in which this Association is interested, and must not be construed as the one location which the Association proposes to point out to the Commission which we trust to have appointed by Congress. We find that many lumbermen over th« coiuafcry are opposing our movement from the fact that they have believed that we are opposed to the cutting of timber. Let me assure you that this is not our ides at all. We would ecpect the mature timber in the region which should be selected, to be cut off as the timber should arrive at the proper age, but such timber should be under ihe control of the Government, and should only be cut Mien sanctioned by the Government Forester, and an endeavor should
