  • - 4 - 6. Project Superintendent E.J. Rosser will be the representative of the Park stationed at the Forney Ridge parking area. GENERAL 1. Radios to supplement the telephone will be installed and operated as follows: 1. At Forney Ridge operated by Houston. 2. At Newfound Gap operated by Luke Bettis. 3. At Smokemont operated by McCarty. 4. At checking station operated by Lee Owenby. 2. A telephone will be installed in Conner's store at Smokemont. 3. Barricades consisting of two upright wood standards 3 feet high, connected by a strand of 3/4 inch or 1 inch rope from the center of which is suspended a piece of red cloth at least 30 inches square, will be placed across the roads when closed at the checking station, Smokemont, and at the entrance to the Clingman's Dome Road. Rope should be arranged so it can be easily and. quickly removed from one standard. The standard on the right hand side of the barricade should have affixed to it one of the standard ratal park signs indicating that the road is closed by order of the Superintendent. 4. CCC foremen or enrollees stationed along a road to warn traffic will bo provided with warning flags consisting of a piece of red cloth at least 18 inches square nailed to a stick 3 feet long. 5. CCC enrollees will be permitted to view the Presidential party from the Newfound Gap highway at the following points: NP-2 opposite the camp. NP-4 et Smokemont. NP-5 opposite the camp. NP-19 near bridge across Oconalufty River at John Jones place. 6. MEMBERS OF THE STATE HIGHWAY PATROLS OF NORTH CAROLINA AND TENNESSEE ACTING AS ESCORTS FOR THE PRESIDENT ARE REQUESTED TO KEEP THE AUTOMOBILES BEARING THE PRESIDENT'S PARTY AT LEAST 250 FEET APART WHEN THE MOTORCADE IS UNDER WAY. 7.JThe following persons and none other may be admitted to closed roads/Armf the passage of the Presidential party including Clingmans Dome Road: 1. Governors of States or Territories. 2. Members of Congress. 3. Federal District Judges. 4. United. States Attorneys or Marshal Is and their assistants.
