At the entrance to Arthur Moles residence above Smokemont with instructions not to let any traffic move out on the highway in either direction at this point until after the passage of the President's party. 2. At entrance to Doc Conner residence with same instructions. 3. At the entrance to NP-5 with the sarre instructions. 4. At a point 100 yards below the Smokemont barricade for the purpose of slowing down oncoming traffic. 4. After the Presidential party passes Conner's store on the way out of the Park, the road will be thrown open at this point. 5. Members of the North Caroline State Highway Patrol will escort the Presidential party from Newfound Gap to Asheville. 6. Ranger Henry will be in charge at Smokemont assisted by Fire Guards H. Bishop and Carl Watson, Foreman Steppe, and three members of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. CLINGMANS DOME ROAD 1. At sunrise on September 9 the Clingmans Dome Road will be closed and a patrolman to be designated by Asst. Chief Ranger Light will proceed from Newfound Gap to the Forney Ridge parking area to clear the road by directing any cars found at the parking area or along the road to return to Newfound Gap ahead of him, after which the road will be kept closed to all traffic until after the President leaves Newfound Gap enroute to North Carolina. 2. With certain exceptions, listed below, no vehicles other than those of the Presidential party will be permitted to make tho trip to Clingmans Dome. 3. As a motorcycle escort will not be required on this road on account of its having been cleared of all traffic, upon the arrival of tho Presidential party at Newfound Gap, members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol comprising the escort should park their motorcycles in the parking area at this point. 4. Members of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol detailed. to escort the President from Newfound Gap to Asheville should be et Newfound Gap not later than 12 noon Eastern Time, and upon their arrival there ere requested to perk their machines at the extreme West end of the parking area and await the return of the Presidential party from Clingmans Dome. 5. Assistant Chief Ranger Light will be in charge at Newfound Gap assisted by Fire Guard W. Ogle and Foremen Owens, Sutton, Sauter and Beck.
