Oscar Cantrell plowing

  • This photograph, taken around 1927, shows Oscar Cantrell, as a student worker, plowing the fields of the John C. Campbell Folk School. Cantrell was one of the first students at the Folk School and stayed on to work at the school as the first blacksmith and "handyman" in 1928. He stayed active in the school until his death in the early 1990s.
