Pigeon Valley Friday morn July 29 / 64 My Dear Sons I have just finished your kind & much welcome letter the 3 time since I rec.d them by Tuesday’s mail last [inst.]. I started one to you by that mail I could not ferlicar [forbear ?] say a word to two in answer to your very thankfully rec.d & kind letters B B the 17 instant B F 19 & 21 lec [be?] aferd [ap?] they was thankfully rec.d & read & re read & read again & again B B I must say that my soul rejoiced when I rec.d your express ions of your feelings on that god dison ering [dishonoring] practice swearing my constant prayer is and shall ever be that the lord may help you to abandon so sinful a practice which produces no good but Evil B F I well remember the day and time spoken of by you in [leaving?] home & my poor feeble prayers have followed you both & will follow you while I have Breath to draw I see the __ [lite ?] of pea ce [p
