  • This four-page brochure was created by the Indian Arts and Crafts Board, a division of the U.S. Department of Interior, to accompany the 1979 exhibition, “Multimedia Crafts by Davy Arch.” Born and raised in the Painttown community of the Qualla Boundary, Davy Mitchell Arch (b. 1957) is a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. He was just 22 years old when he was honored with his first solo exhibition, held at Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual, an artisan cooperative in Cherokee, North Carolina. Even at this young age, Arch had won multiple ribbons at the Cherokee Indian Fair. Then, as now, he worked as a lecturer and guide at the Oconaluftee Indian Village.
