20 Mr G. S. Powell: Mr Chairman, I move that this convention accept tne se kind invitations with thanks. The chair put the motions after being seconded, and it was unanimously carried. Thereupon the convention adjourned to meet at B:3Q P. M. Evening Se ssion. Pursuant to recess, the convention met at o:30 P. M. for the further transaction of ousine3s. The convention was called to order by chairman N, G. Gonzales, who said: The Chairman: Gentlemen, I have a numnerfof letters and telegrams from different gentlemen regretting not being able to be with us. This 38-page document describes the November 22, 1899 meeting at which the Appalachian National Park Association was formed. Included in the meeting minutes is a speech by Senator Marion Butler (1863-1938), a U.S. Senator from North Carolina. The minutes include short addresses by others as well as election results and the formation of committees.
