As to the nature of this work T quote as follows from Senate rPr it chard" writing under date of Augtxst S9th| "I note vftiat yoxx have to say in regard to any advise T may have to give as to the future work of the Association and in this connection I desire to commend the Association for the splendid work it has accomplished and I feel that with proper efforts more effective work can be done in the future than has been done in the past. It seems to me it would be a good idea to have a short letter written to every member of b&2 Congress between this and the first of December, in which should be clearly stated, the object of the association in attempting to secure the establishment of a national forest reserve. However, it is unnecessary for me to xuider- take to give you instrxzetions as to the best methods to be xxsed in order to promote this great enterprise, ^e must not let the undertaking fail and in order to insure its success we should leave no stone unturned in our efforts to call the matter to the attention of country at large." The Association should carry out these suggestions and to that end the Secretary has compiled a little booklet setting forth in detail what has been accomplished, these should be placed in the hands of every Senator and Representative with such other information as may be — 2—
