all night to save Karl an extra trip to get me home; stayed Tues. night so we could Go to town to see Gracie Field. Went on home with them Tues. night because it was drifting & hard to get in here. This a.m. Karl let me off at the mail box & I walked in from the main road. There was a small blizzard going on & the drifts a bit high & 12° above 0. I was blown down once & my heart going like a battering ram; my fingers next door to freezing. Don’t believe I could have made another 15 ft. After I was in the house lost my breakfast by the up route & last night’s dinner going down. Selah

In this letter of January 25, 1939, Laura Kephart writes her daughter-in-law, Pauline sending her a copy of the family tree Lucy made in case she is interested. Laura recounts her near death experience walking from the road to her house in a small blizzard where it was 12°F. She tells of the death of the Hayes’ son. She continues letting Pauline know she sent the family history to Stella Dodge, and mentions wocus seeds.
