May 3, 1945 Dear Leonard- These enclosures are all I have left of the many items I had about your father. The report in the paper where it speaks of our having been “separated” has always irked me. I suppose it would be im- possible, in these divorcing days, to make people understand that the separation was purely geographical. However since we knew it, “the public be- ignorant. It is more of their business any way. Will you please direct the enclosed card to Buddy; it has been waiting since Feb. for someone to give me this address. Even the letter from Budjr did not give it. Manton met the Tulls &

In this letter of May 3, 1945, Laura Kephart writes to her son, Leonard Kephart (1892-1988) to send him the rest of what she has of Horace Kephart’s belongings. She includes a card she has for his son Buddy and she catches him up on Barbara and Roy’s daughter Laura, and Roy’s issues dealing with his mother’s estate. She expresses her frustration at not being able to retrieve Horace Kephart’s belongings from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
