  • Aug. 5 1936 Dear Leonard The enclosed speaks for itself. I would be glad to have the receipt back as soon as possible, so one thing can be off my mind. Dec. 10 1936 Dear Frances The enclosed won’t fatten the children’s stockings to any alarming extent. As usual I am broke at Christmas & every other time for that matter. If you think the children rather have the money before Christmas it is all right with me. Let them have it any time you think best. This seems “much ado about nothing.” The Birds have had a most en- couraging present already, about which you will hear from Barbara probably. The same as above- not much but going in the right direction. We are doing our part for the school tree. I am making wristlets for the pa's, who are all farmers & so out in all weathers.
