John C. Campbell Folk School students outside the Spring House

This photograph, taken around 1930, shows several John C. Campbell Folk School students standing outside the Spring House with pails of milk after milking cows. Milk was stored in Spring House where it was kept cool by a running spring viaduct that cut through the building. The men are identified as (left to right) Hollis Penland, Oscar Cantrell, and farm manager, Georg Bidstrup.
