  • Whittier, Jan. 9, 1889. Capt: Jas. W. Terrell, Dear Sir, I received a letter from Ferguson in answer to our written him conserning the Sloan proposition. He says he is doubtful about the litigation, and thinks that if we can make the 500.00 out of the land & have the men to where we have sold protected that perhaps we had better accept. I know nothing about the value of the unsold land. We will consult about the matter the next time we meet & see what is best to done. Yours truly, Jas. R. Thomas. P.S. I finished roofing the finest Barn in the county yesterday. Mr. Woodfin tells me you are going to Cherokee soon. When do you expect to go. I saw Capt. Cooper the other day. He is very anxious to compromise every thing out there.
