THE BETA SCHOOL This building was constructed in the first years of the twentieth century. It was built for a two-teacher school. For the last several years it had been a five- teacher school. The rooms were too small. It was very hard to heat. There were no modern conveniences of any kind. It was really a dangerous fire-trap. This building was abandoned in the spring of 1951. THE WILLETS SCHOOL This building had many years ago served its purpose. It was hard to heat, and the light was inadequate. There was no up-to-date conveniences. It was abandoned in the spring of 1951. THE BALSAM SCHOOL This was a fairly new building, built in approximately 1940. It was only a three-teacher school; therefore, the Board considered that the children would have greater advantages and opportunities in a larger school. This building was abandoned in the spring of 1951. THE ADDIE SCHOOL As the picture illustrates this was built for a church. Not many years after construction it was bought by the Board of Education for a school building. However, it was used for several years for a church also. It was abandoned in the spring of 1951. THE SCOTT'S CREEK CONSOLIDATED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL This project resulted in the consolidation of the old Addie, Balsam, Beta, and Willets Schools. It is a modern building with all modern facilities and equipment. It was constructed at a total cost of approximately $212,000. It is located on the south side of the highway at Addie. It was first occupied in the fall of 1951. THE SCOTT'S CREEK CONSOLIDATED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
