Murphy N.C. Nov 18 ‘1844 My Dear Sir Your favor of the 8th Inst was recieved by yesterday’s mail. I have not written to you for some time from the fact that I had nothing very interesting to inform you of. I am progressing with the [illegible] [illegible] as fast as could be expected. I will have it ready for to hold our December court in and against the 1st of march if nothing happens to me I will have it completed, you are Right in supposing that it gives me sufficient employment without embarking in any other stream of enterprise in fact I must say that I had no expectations of doing so myself it is true me and Mr. [illegible] had some connection relative to the business you mentioned but for my part I had no expectation of engaging that affair. By no means at the present as I am sensible it would injure me in some arrangements that I design trying to make wherein I shall need the aid of G.F.M our court commences here this day two weeks, at which time I design being appointed guardians for the Indian boy at Murphy (I forgot his name) and immediately thereafter will [illegible] to you the necessary authority for you to act for him directly after our
