Particularly is this true from the fact that at present different tracts ranging in area from two hundred and fifty to seven hundred and fifty thousand acres can be purchased at the average price of two dollars per acre. Lumbermen are now securing options and control of immense tracts of these forests lands and as the rail-roads gradually encroach upon the region the mountains are being denuded of their beauty and the country will soon destroyed unless some organized effort shall "Stop this wanton destruction. Game and trout formerly abounded in this whole section and is still farely plentiful in the immense tract of land lying along the North Carolina and Tennessee state line, but as the saw-mills are pushed forward into the forests and as --5--
