  • SPRING APRIL 1934 HIKE SUPERVISOR—WILLIE V. COOPER APRIL 8 WIND ROCK AND THE CUMBERLANDS Well! You Great Alexanders, who have been looking for new hikes to hike, here's one that will test your curiosity! It is mystery hike number two. You will never know just what is around the corner till it is all over. The Cum- berlands—isn't that definite enough for the most percumsquint? This bike will be the acid test for hikers. You will have a chance to ride up a mountain on a new kind of hoss or ride Shank's ponies. How many will walk? Of course, hikers (Smoky) never admit that it's a bore to walk over a mountain, but won't it be different to have a chance once to walk or Perhaps ride right through the middle of one? This is partially a carboniferizing trip—those who prefer may botanize. Who has been to Brushy Mountain in the Cumberlands? You will get a bird's-eye-view of it and that is plenty. Where is the American Knob, anyway? And Wind Rock—where and what is it? What about the views and the flowers that bloom in the spring? Come, and ye shall be shown all these things. 21
