  • grotto, and the name Grotto Falls would be a proper one. These falls mark the upper limits that fish may ascend the stream. About a half mile below Grotto Falls a trail is found on the left side (going down). There is no doubt that this trail will be a welcome sight after "rock-hopping" all the way down. This trail winds thru a pretty hemlock forest, crosses and recrosses the main stream, goes up a steep grade and then down a short distance to Sherman Clabo's farm. From Mr. Clabo's house you take a trail thru his barn lot which leads you back to the Cherokee orchard. You will agree that this is a strenuous hike after completing the 13 miles of the round trip. Only the most capable should attempt the hike down Roaring Fork, as it is quite rough. The leaders know the trail and fully realize the hardships involved. Leave Dixie System at 1 o'clock. Take food for 3 meals and candle lantern. A canteen will not be needed on this trip. Be sure that your boots are in good shape. Leaders: HERBERT HUNZE (5-4745) W. W. STANLEY (5-2580) 35
