  • May 15th LAUREL FALLS The trip up Laurel Creek to Laurel Falls is one of exceptional interest and beauty in that the trail follows along "the meanders of said stream" thru a densely wooded area. The first mile is easy hiking on an old country road, after that the trail becomes rough and strewn thickly with small boulders; presently it runs beside the "Devil's Chute"—a rocky trough thru which the waters rush with the force of a mill race. Not far beyond are the Falls. Laurel Falls is like a small cascade tumbling over its rocky ledges, and at this season should be more than ever beautiful with an added quantity of water from the Spring rains. Here is the objective of the trip, but the interest of Laurel Creek continues beyond the Falls and we urge any who may wish, to come further with us (and make a report on same to go into next year's Hiking Book; all the last three say it can be done, but not one says anybody ever did it!) Leave Dixie System promptly at 8:00 A. M. Drive to Wonderland Park Hotel where cars will be left. Bring food for one meal. Hiking distance 8 miles round trip. Leaders: NINA SHIPE (6-1517) ELEANOR HAASIS (5-5227) // May 28th - 30th ON TO RUTLAND! WHAT AN OBJECTIVE FOR OUR CLUB!
