  • February 7th ABRAMS FALLS Another hiking day—so get out your old knap-sack end iiil your canteen; wear plenty of warm clothes for we want everybody to be comfortable and have a good time. Cars will be left at John Oliver's "parking lot" in Cade's Cove. We take the trail from there—but before we start let's pause for a moment and have a look at Gregory and F'arson's Bald; they will probably be capped with snow and standing guard against the clear winter sky. We follow the trail over the ridge to Abram's Creek. For some distance we have a little climb—not very much—in fact it is a very easy trail all the way to the Falls, only two steep climbs. A, very beautilol view can be seen from these ridges and will be t» pecially pretty at this time of the year. Be sure to no- tice the beautiful galax leaves along the trail. There is a very steep climb before we reach the Falls, just take it slowly. Stop and notice the Creek before you start down. Lunch may be eaten at the top on nice, flat rocks or just below the Falls. On this hike we are leaving Dixie System promptly at 8:00 A. M., so be sure to be on time. Bring food tor one meal and canteen. Hiking distance 6 miles. Leader,: NORVA1TAGGART (5-1161) B.
