In this letter of March 20, 1864, Henry Marshall Misemer (1832-1865) writes his "Dear wife," Martha Misemer, from Nashville, Tennessee. He starts by saying he is safe from the Confederate soldiers and describes all that he and his company have accomplished in their raid on West Point, Mississippi since leaving Nashville on December 27th. He lets her know how much he is looking forward to being back home and how happy he was to have five letters from her upon their return to Nashville. He says although he would prefer to keep them, he will burn her letters if that is what she wants. He mentions a letter from his brother, Philip who is satisfied to have a brother and son who are patriots.
