ordinary people. The dear boy has a good Christian back-ground, and I hope he will grow in grace and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus, so that He can speak through him, then he can do so many wonderful things. How interesting, your experience with Penol, you have given the universal testimony, people are finding, more and more than it is a contribution to suffering humanity. I am so glad you had it. I am so pleased to hear that Mr. Slagle is holding his own at least. I am praying for healing strength to come. O, yes, I agree with you absolutely, I feel that I must see that dear handsome boy this summer, and I hope that it will be possible for me to come to see you and discuss his future with you and Mr. Slagle. I can do but little walking now even on level ground, but I hope to be well by summer. Yes the dear boy has a creative mind, and I beleive I can be of service to him in drawing it out and getting him started. My prayer is now that God will open a way for me to have him unmolested, please pray for such a condition to be brought about God can and I beleive will provide a way

In this letter of March 20, 1928, George Washington Carver writes to Mrs J.H. (Margaret Gillespie) Slagle, thanking her for her friendship and her letters, though the two have never met. He expresses his love for her son Thomas (Dick) and his hopes to teach and train Dick. Carver then discusses a potential visit to the Slagle family in the upcoming summer and things he would like to accomplish should the visit occur.
