  • July the 25,1862 Camp near Richmond, Va. Dear Friends Having an opportunity of sending letters by hand, I will write a few more lines this morning. I am well. I wrote a letter to send yesterday in that I stated about getting my clothes. I also stated about britches being too big, but I was mistaken, I had not tried them on. They fit splendid. If you have the chance, I want you to send me some irish potatoes. The 16th Regiment is in camps within two hundred yds of our Regiment. I have nothing more to write that is interesting. Write soon. Do all for Capt. McDowell, he is a fine man. G. J. Huntley
