  • You about my being in the fight and getting wounded. I shall not attempt to give you a description of what I saw on the battlefield hoping that I will have the opportunity some time of seeing you all and then we can talk it over. I am going to send my overcoat home by David Murrow and you can get it from his house or maybe I can get him to carry it to B. Washburns. I am unable to tell when there will be another fight for some think in a few days. I want you to write often and state whether you need any cotton cards or not. I can get them in Richmond for 10 dollars. Make all the money you can and if I never get home, give the children good learning. There will be a fine time after this ends for young people. I would like to come home and eat fruit, but there is no chance. I will come when I can. Save all silver and gold. Write soon, so nothing more at present. I send my best respects to all my connections, none excepted. G. J. Huntley
