G. J. Huntley to friends, January 22, 1862

In this letter of January 22, 1862, G. J. Huntley writes to Dear friends to let them know that he is sending 26 dollars home and they can spend it however they please. This letter is one of a series of 46 that Huntley wrote home while serving in the 34th Regiment of N. C. Volunteers during the Civil War.

Jan. the 22nd, 1862 Dear friends I right you a few lines which leave me in good health and with them I will send you 26 dollars in money. I shall send the letter by David Harrill, Lieutenant in Capt. Edwards Company to Berry McDaniels. Wm. Jones is going to send some by him to Berries and he will right to Robert Jones to go to Berries after it and Robert will I suppose, carry this to you. You can do what you please with it. Spend it for anything you need. One thing you need and that is a good saddle. I would send more but I cannot tell when we will get any more and I want to keep right smart. G. J. Huntley
