I am only in common health at this time but I hope my lines will reach you in due time and find you all in good health. I have nothing that is very interesting to write at this time. We are still here close to Goldsboro and when we will leave here I cannot tell. But I think before long for our pickets and the enemys has been fighting at Kinston for two days and it is likely that there will be a general engagement before long. I want you to write soon and let me know how Tolliver Hughes is and whether he got my clothing home or not. Wm. Tanner is here this morning, I will send this letter by him and I intend to send one pair of shoes by him if he will carry them. If he brings them I will get him to leave them at B. Washburns and you can get them. A few days back I wrote to you for some summer clothing but I don't know whether you got the letter or not as I have never got any answer. I will state what I want again. I shall want one summer coarse shirt, one pair of drawers and one
