Fiber tools: netting needles

  • wcu_craft_revival-6113.jpg
  • Netting needles have the same function as a shuttle does with a loom. They hold a supply of the fiber being stitched into net or fringe while the maker constructs his or her piece. These three 1800s-era needles were a gift to Frances Goodrich from her friend Reverend William P. Jackson of Asheville, North Carolina. Goodrich donated them to the Southern Highland Craft Guild in the 1930s. The creator of these items is unknown.
