Elmo W. Brim to Horace Kephart, December 30, 1921

In a letter to Horace Kephart on December 30, 1921, detective Elmo W. Brim confirms what Kephart has read in the Asheville Citizen, that B. L. Harsell is dead, however the body has not been found. Brim is looking forward to reading Kephart's article on the matter.

S. C. COX, Postmaster GALAX, VIRGINIA 12 - 30 - 21. Mr, Horace Kephart, Bryson City, N. C. Dear Sir : Your letter received and greatly appreciated. The report of the Ashville Citizen is correct with the exception ©f the finding of the body— that will be a matter of later developementp I shall see that you are posted when the case comes up for trial. The party you spoke of having been at Almond, N. C, and Hendersonville, N. C. was evidently a party named W. H. Eastmm , or Wm. H. Eastman of Grand Rapids, Mich., a lawyer by trade. A party from Hendersonville wrote Mr. Norman Harsell about this manj I found him registered at Mt. Mitchell and at Dolph Wilsons, ( Black Mt., bear hunter ), and at other spots in N. C, to Lebanon, Virginia , July the 3rd. This party had been in Florida, and I think was what he represented himself to be. Possibly this is the man who was at Almond, N. 0. There was a type resemblance between B. L. Harsell and Wm. Eastman, but Eastman was a much older looking man than B„ Lo Harsell0 I would greatly appreciate seeiny'your artiele when it appears. Thanking you for your courtesy to me, and hoping that I may have the pleasure ©f meeting you personally, I am, Sincerely, Elmo W. Brim
