1773. I have her down pretty fine she killed an Indian about 1770, was in the Kauffman family in until 1918, has a straight history. Whelen, yes he got awfully twisted and did not give me a chance to get him right in his book. The woods Rifle is the Roesser & visa versa. Enclosed find a size of 2 bores of Early Ones, by the way I hav written Roy McHenry I want to know where he is getting all this information if it is true I must know it, if mere guess work he must go slow. Yes I fully realize what a treasure is old

In a letter to Horace Kephart on June 2, 1924, Dillin writes to Kephart explaining the delay by the National Rifle Association in publishing a book on the Kentucky rifle. He describes his Killdeer rifle and its history.
