  • Should show not less than 245 and no [duplicates]/ 15% of all Rifles before 1800, were straight cuts and don’t you know the wise ones had not found them out. Many had never heard of them. They were never re Rifled, nearly always a thin barrel. Often a round barrel. I have then tested out, with my old Killdeer, Whelen Schneering and I got a trifle less than 1600 feet velocity, with only 59 grs, FFG. (I think) we decided that we could run [illegible] up to 1800 at least. That Crowbar business was funny, now a word about Dexters long gun idea. Partly right. Partly wrong, of course traders did no doubt barter with the long gun, but they were made in great numbers long after the Indian was gone. I hope to show an 81 inch Paerma Full Octogon spiral gun made after 1800, and I own a double sighted Fouling piece 68 inches long. Made apparently not earlier than 1825. Another, 71 ½ inches long about 1820 Rifles gone and smoothed out from shot, mostly imagined the long gun shot Clasens, between old Rifles and old Violins I am spending much money say nothing of time.
