This circular letter of April 1918 was written by King George V and addressed to 'Soldiers of the United States' and handed to them upon their arrival in Europe. This copy was given to Daisy Eugenia Kinsland (1882-1948) and sent home to her sister in Waynesville, Flora Kinsland Plott, on September 13, 1918. Daisy was born in the Bethel Community of Haywood County and graduated from Mission Hospital School of Nursing in 1912. She enlisted in the Army on March 15, 1918, and retired August 31, 1938. She served in the Army Nurse Corps, Base Hospital No. 65 in Camp Kerhuon, France, during World War I. She returned to the United States from Brest, France on January 12, 1920 on the transport vessel George Washington. She died at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
