  • J. A. HOLMES, State Geologist. NORTH CAROLINA GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, chapel hill, n. c. I ) October 1, 1901. Dr. C. P. Ambler, Asheville, N. C: My Dear Br. Ambler: I regret very much to hear that you have not been well of late though am glad to know that your condition has improved in the MuoarM past few days. Doubtjess several of us are at fault in not have in \ sent you copies of Senatorial Report #2221 submitted by Senator Beveridge's Committee and also information as to what had transpired with reference to the Forest Reserve. I am sure that I for one had simply taken it for granted that somebody had sent this information to you promptly. The mountain trips, about which I wrote you a few days ago, have not yet been definitely arranged, but they will be short and along regular lines of travel. One of them will take in the Blowing Rock, Linville and Cranberry country and the other will probably go down the Murphy railroad. At the wish of parties interested, I am keeping both trips out of the papers as far as possible. I will write you again as soon as matters are definitely settled. Yours very sincerely, ( U-^u(~h^Cv^^J^ State Geologist.
